Branches Wood Fired Chop House

Branches Wood Fired Chop House

Project Description

A mega-restaurant concept slated for Northern California’s city of Ukiah was starting from scratch. They were funded with a good amount of investment to create a gorgeous modern “Cabin Style” themed restaurant which included a full service bakery, butcher shop, fine dining and sports bar.

I was asked to help create a brand and identity which would apply to all different levels of the restaurant’s offerings as well as produce a website which was easy to update. The solution was a custom WordPress theme to be used as a Content Management System.

Menlo Hardwoods

Menlo Hardwoods

Project Description

We just launched a whole new branding identity and fully responsive site for our new client Menlo Hardwoods. They are a high end furniture maker based out of Menlo Park, CA specializing in gorgeous high end furniture created from claimed rare Claro Walnut trees, native only to California. In the coming months, we will slowly implement their press section for mentions, more images for their fluid gallery and more content. We chose WordPress because of it’s flexibility and decided to develop a completely Responsive Design from the start. This means the site will be viewable on all devices and platforms.

Identity

Menlo Hardwoods was a great client. They were a start up, so that naturally meant getting to work with a clean palette. There were no previous guidelines, colors, themes etc. to adhere to. So when building a brand, we set out to design the “essentials” for the client. Here is a sample of the identity kit I provided for them, including the branded hang tags which were applied by hand to each custom piece.

Responsive Web Design

Any web project I start these days has to be sharp, clean and focused on it’s key audience. In addition to that experience I am building, I have to take into account, “where is this content going to be consumed?” This usually translates to creating a Responsive Web Site, which can be viewed and functional on desktops, tablets and mobile devices equally.

Marketing Materials

A few months in to the business, and my client came calling with another marketing request. A leave behind for corporate and personal clients. This piece needed to speak to the unique design and quality of Menlo Hardwoods furniture. I worked with my client to establish a voice for the piece and then directed my copywriter to fine tune the message. The final piece was a showstopper.

Quest Groups

Project Description

Quest Groups came to me looking to revamp both their brand and web presence. Through a series of interviews and research, we helped reshape their company brand, message and presentation. This was a great experience with a client who simply “got” the creative development and process. We started the project from re-identifying who they were and what their company’s goals were. Once we established that, creating the vision, platform and purpose for their site was quite easy.

Identity

Once I created a successful mark for the client, I created an identity package for the whole company. These were just a few pieces of stationary. In addition to this was a style guide which outlined exactly how to use the new brand and logo variations.

Web Design

As with any project, the more your client respects your advice and the whole creative process, the more successful your end result will be. This project was great in that it yielded a new brand, brand promise, voice, identity, and website platform using WordPress as a Content Management System.

Style Guidelines

Every successful brand is built on a foundation. Whenever creating a solid mark for a client, I always want to leave them with a set of rules on how to properly use their new mark and the different variations I create for them. The idea is to create a mark that is going to be successful and grow with your client.

Illustration

Along with their new identity, I created a whole series of illustrations which branded their vision. Working directly with the CEO of the company allowed me to really narrow down the company’s vision and how they wanted to present themselves with their new identity.
